Piha R&R News Update - 25 August

Hopefully the worst of winter weather is behind us as we move towards spring. However, the El Nino event declared by NIWA in July is expectd to bring strong winds and dry weather to northern areas and persist into 2027. So conserve water, as it may get difficult to order supplies.

Meanwhile your Piha R&R committee continues to work on issues that affect our precious and much loced community:

  • Piha Domain Upgrade: We feel sure that you are as disappointed as we are with the current state of the works. The R&R met with Council and Local Board members and staff last week and remedial work fas been promised.

  • Piha Road Railings: After months of prompting, the broken wooden rails on the Piha hill have been repaued.

  • Stormwater Drains on Seaview & Garden Rds.: We have been fighting Auckland Council & Transport since Cyclone Gabrielle to get these roadside drains cleared and the under-road culverts unblocked. Works were finally completed last week.

  • Carparking Areas North South and in-between: Potholes, lakes and lack of maintenace abound. These areas are controlled by three different Council agences; Transoport, Local Parks and Regional Parks, so getting work any work done is a challenge we are working on.

Piha Bowling Club: We congratulate the Bowling Club on their new roof project that will mean the Club will be out of action for up to six weeks till mid September. For the full story and video views see the Piha Bowling Club news on their website HERE.
