The Piha Matariki Festival is back for 2026

Join us for a wonderful weekend full of fun family-friendly events perfect for people of all ages. Come together to celebrate our beautiful community and te Mātahi o te Tau, the beginning of the Māori new year.

Welcome Matariki bright and early on Friday 10 July with a beautiful dawn ceremony led by Pita Turei and The Waitākere Ranges Dark Sky Group. Events will continue all weekend long, including kites at the beach, live music and more. Sunday we will be hosting the Piha Matariki Community Hangi. While this event is totally free, please book your tickets by 5 July at events.humanitix.com/pihamatariki
