Piha Campground under review

Following the flooding events of 2018, Auckland Council mandated the closure of a portion or the Piha Campground. Your Piha R&R cpmmittee had several meetings with Council at that time regarding the potential flooding risks in the Piha Domain and surrounding areas. The R&R argued strongly againstr some of the predicted outcomes from the flood modelling that was prematurely publishes.

Recently the Waitakere Ranges Local Board undertook a furthe study with two reports from Blue Barn Consultants, (see below,) that in part proposed that the earlier findings may be oversatated.

Recent tragic losses at Mt. Maunganui Canpground have made Council officers nervous and, (in the writers opinion,) their over zealous instincts for self preservation, are now jeopardising the future of the Piha Canpground. We will work with Fiona to try and ensure the Piha Campground stays.
