When will our Piha and Waitakere Tracks be accessible?

Early in April, your Piha R&R Committee invited the Auckland Council Manager for Regional Parks to a Public Meeting in Piha to talk about the status of walking tracks in the Piha area.

This was intended to be an information meeting where the Regional Parks Manager could detail for us the issues relating to track restoration and opening. This would have included the actual problems associated with each track and the proposed schedule for undertaking the necessary work and re-opening. We provided a detailed list of questions, in order that he not be blindsided, and organised an experienced moderator to assist in control of the meeting.

On 9th May we received the following most unsatisfactory response. We will be escalating this lack of proper engagement with the Piha community this to a higher level.

Tena Koutou Katoa, please find attached an update on the regional parks track programme, this will be the first of a series of updated we want to share across Tamaki to inform residents and public of the plan to address and reopen our damaged tracks on regional parks.
