Piha R&R News Update - 24th February
Holliday time is over and most of us are bck at work, school or univeristy. The summer holiday period did not produce the weather we would have liked, but hopefully you can all start the new year somwhat refreshed. Meanwhile your Piha R&R committee continues to work on issues such as the Skate Park, road construction and maintenance, storm water recovery from the cyclone, Piha Domain upgrades, road and pedestrian safety, tracks re-opening, and much more. Let us know if you have aconcern that need addressing.
Piha R&R Commmmittee meets at the Bowler on the second Thursday each month, 6:30pm. Come and talk with us, specially if you have suggestions or concerns related to Piha and the community. Past meeting Minutes HERE.
Piha Resilience Group and Piha Recovery Group: These two groups, sub-groups of the Piha R&R committee, are actively involved in developing a Resiliences Plan for Piha and in working with Auckland council to enhance recovery for the Piha Community following Cyclone Gabrielle. Submissions on Govt. National Environment and Planning Bill: The Piha R&R Committee makes submissions on Government and Council proposals that affect the Piha Community. The review iof the RMA (Resource Management Act) fas led to the proposed National Environment and Planning Bill. This Bill threatens to undermine the WRHA (Waitakere Ranges Heritage Area Act 2008.) Piha Community News: The latest edition o0f the PCN is available, so get your copy from the Piha Store, Library, or Piha Post Office. Members free copy is available from the Piha Post Office.
Membership: We encourage all those in the Piha community to become members. Strong membership gives us a strong voice to advocate with Council for improved services, maintenance and infrastructure for Piha. Fees are currently $25 per member for the year. (1st November, 2025 thru 31 October, 2026.) This includes free copies of the Piha Community News. Please support your community.
