Piha R&R News Update - 28 July

Winter is definitely here, ably demonstrated by the cold mornings just gone, but cold mornings bring the warm sunny days we love. El Nino weather paterns are upon us so we can expect stronger and cooler west and southwest winds but drier weather as summer approaches, so keep an eye on your water tank levels.

Meanwhile your Piha R&R committee continues to work on issues such as the Skate Park, road construction and maintenance, storm water issues still remaining from cyclone Gabrielle, Lower Speed limits for road and pedestrian safety, tracks opening, and more. Let us know if you have concerns that needs addressing.

Piha Bowling Club: We congratulate the Bowling Club on their new roof project that will mean the Club will be out of action for up to six weeks from 3rd August. For the full story see the Piha Bowling Club news on this HERE.

Piha Domain: Despite the best efforts of the contractors, access to the Bowler and use of the Domain was problematic for a while with fences and nud trails, but we look forward to completeion of the project and an improved facility for Pihga residents and visitors.

Matariki Festival: The Piha R&R Recovery Group once again provided a spectacular array of events for Matariki that wereenjoyed by by the community and vistors over the holiday weekend. Special thanks to Emma Shaw who led the organisation effort.

Piha Community Post Office: For those who may be unaware, this facility is owned and operated by Piha R&R for the community and relies on your support for it’s ongoing viability. Postnistress duteies are now shared by Chris and Lisa. Pop in, say hello ans support the Piha Post Office.

Piha R&R Committee meets at the Bowler on the second Thursday each month, 6:30pm. Come and talk with us, especially if you have suggestions or concerns related to Piha and the community. Past meeting Minutes HERE.

Piha Community News: The winter edition of the PCN currently available, so get your copy from the Piha Store, Library, or Piha Post Officeand support this iconic local publication. Members free copy is available from the Piha Post Office.

Membership: We encourage all in the Piha community to become members. Strong membership gives us a strong voice to advocate with Council for improved services, maintenance and infrastructure for Piha. Fees are currently $25 per member for the year. (1st November, 2025 thru 31 October, 2026.) This includes free copies of the Piha Community News. Please support your community.
