Piha R&R News Update - 14th April

Cyclone Vaianu has come and gone and we can count ourselves fortunate that the Piha community was spared any significant impact. As always our tireless, dedicated and much appreciated local Energency Service groups, Surf Clubs and support organisations were prepared and ready to step up if rquired. Unfortunately the Deep Sea Fishing Club tournament and Auction was postponed for the safety of all concerned. Stay tuned for the revised date.

Meanwhile your Piha R&R committee continues to work on issues such as the Skate Park, road construction and maintenance, storm water issues from cyclone Gabrielle, Piha Domain upgrades, road and pedestrian safety, tracks opening, and more. Let us know if you have concerns that needs addressing.

Glenesk Road - Removal of Condemned Homes: Auckland Council contractors will be removing and/or deconstructing (demolishing) six homes over the next few weeks See the Auckland Coucil letter HERE.

Piha Community Post Office: Piha is a Rural Delivery area and delivery of mail require that you register for Rural Mail. Mail addressed to Piha addresses not registered for Rural Delivery will be held at te Post Office for one month and then ”returned to sender.”

Piha Resilience Group and Piha Recovery Group: These two sub-groups of the Piha R&R committee, are actively involved in developing a Resiliences Plan and Cyclone recovery for the Piha Community. If you would like to be involved, get in touch with us at a Committee meeting or by email.. piharrassn@gmail.com

Piha R&R Committee meets at the Bowler on the second Thursday each month, 6:30pm. Come and talk with us, especially if you have suggestions or concerns related to Piha and the community. Past meeting Minutes HERE.

Piha Community News: The latest edition of the PCN is available, so get your copy from the Piha Store, Library, or Piha Post Office. Members free copy is available from the Piha Post Office.

Membership: We encourage all those in the Piha community to become members. Strong membership gives us a strong voice to advocate with Council for improved services, maintenance and infrastructure for Piha. Fees are currently $25 per member for the year. (1st November, 2025 thru 31 October, 2026.) This includes free copies of the Piha Community News. Please support your community.
