Mercer Bay Carpark Upgrade Details
Your Piha Ratepayers and Residents Assn. has received details of the planned Mercer Bay Carpark design from Auckland Council
In part Auckland Council says: The Mercer Bay carpark is a primary visitor arrival area for some of the region's most iconic walking experiences including the Mercer Bay Loop and wider track network. The area is also historically significant as a World War II radar station. The carpark has not kept pace with increasing visitation, confirmed by vehicle counter numbers, customer complaints, and Park Ranger observations for over a decade. During busy periods, inadequate parking capacity, results in access blockages on site and on Log Race Road, and environmentally impactful parking and driver behaviour.
