Forrest Hill Road Closure - Notice from Auckland Transport

Piha R&R have received the following from Auckland Transport. We wonder why or how “full road closure 24/7” for 15 weeks (3 1/2 mths) can be justified !!??

Forest Hill Road Slip Repair – Works start Monday 13 April 2026

 Kia ora community,

On Monday 13 April, we will start work on Forest Hill Road to repair the slip that was caused by severe weather conditions last year.  Works include the construction of a timber pole retaining wall and storm water drainage improvements, to help future-proof this section of road and restore two-lane access for vehicles.

We expect works to be completed by 24 July 2026.

During this time, the road will be fully closed between 298 and 310 Forest Hill Road, where the traffic lights are currently located.

Residents will be able to access their homes from either end of the closure. The closure will be in place 24 hours / 7 Days.

School bus route 56 (Avondale College) will detour through Parrs Cross Road and West Coast Road, with multiple bus stops impacted. Passengers are encouraged to use Stop 5326 – Pine Avenue or Stop 5441 – 515 West Coast Road, or use Journey Planner to find other alternative stops during the works period.

Factors such as wet weather can affect the programme or delay the start date. If the delay is significant, we will notify you.

 Nga mihi
