Piha R&R is one of four community groups that have been working toward and taking responsibility to ensure that Auckland Council purchased the Ministry of Education land for the benefit of the Piha community and the enjoyment of visitors to Piha.
The four groups: Piha R&R, Protect Piha Heritage, Piha Kids Charitable Trust and West Coast Gallery have formed a registered charitable trust called the Piha Wetland Trust. They have worked with the Waitakere Ranges Local Board to come up with a plan for the land and now it is out for consultation. This also includes the former schoolhouse. Regional Parks has also been involved as the neighbouring land to the south and east is regional park land. This is an opportunity to create a real community asset. So this is your chance to have a say on what will happen on the land. You can comment till 9 June.
